Woman can lose their sense of self when coping with multiple demands of their job, relationships, parenting, and often, the logistics of being a member of the sandwich generation. This workshop presents strategies for prioritizing the demands of these complex responsibilities so that life becomes enjoyable instead of overwhelming.


Recognizing and Managing the Stresses of Life

Repeated persistent stress leads to exhaustion. Stressors can be one-time or ongoing. These patterns or habits of stress can become ingrained neurologically, cognitively and/or emotionally. This presentation centers on breaking these patterns and learning how anger and anxiety feed stress. To deal with stress, we can change the situation, change our reaction, or adjust our attitude.


What’s All This Talk About Happiness? How to Increase Positive Thinking and Optimism

Using the framework of Positive Psychology, this discussion has participants identify their values and beliefs related to the concept of happiness and what gives life meaning. Cognitive behavioral therapy can decrease negative thinking and help participants identify values and beliefs. CBT asks, are my thoughts true, and are there alternative ways of looking at my thoughts that may not be as harsh? Through CBT, people can learn to become more optimistic.
